When is the enrolment period?

The official enrolment period for Kindergarten begins in Catholic Schools Week (which is normally the first week of March), and extends until the end of May in the year before starting school. Offers of enrolment are usually sent out in early June. However, we do accept enrolments at any time of the school year, including from students in other classes who are transferring from another school.

How old does my child have to be to enrol in Kindergarten?

Children who turn five years old on or before May 31 are eligible for enrolment into Kindergarten for that year.

Does my child need to be Catholic to enrol at St Patrick’s?

No. Our school has a special care and responsibility for the children of Catholic families. However, we are also charged with the responsibility to take the Good News of Jesus to all who are open to it. In choosing to enrol your children at St Patrick’s, parents and guardians agree to respect and support the Catholic identity of the school and its role in the parish, and to acknowledge the importance of Religious Education for their children.

Enrolment policy

St Patrick’s follows the guidelines provided by the Catholic Schools Office Enrolment Policy. This enrolment policy has been devised in order to accommodate the needs of families seeking a Catholic education. It aims to:

  1. Set direction for school procedures and practices for enrolling students into Catholic primary and secondary schools within the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle
  2. Establish a common, consistent approach in enrolment practices
  3. Assist the system of Catholic schools to provide schooling, where possible, for all Catholic children who seek enrolment
  4. Encourage parents enrolling their children in Catholic schools to support parish and school life, especially in education in faith.
